| The Asiatic Wild Ass
(Gudkhur) roams free in the Little
Rann of Kutch which is a Wildlife Sanctuary. It is one of the largest wildlife
sanctuaries in India, spanning 4950 sq. kms. in area. The handsome chestnut
brown and white Wild Ass, found no where else in the world is the most
important animal of the Little Rann. It hails from the horse family and
has the strength and grace of a horse. Other species of animals that one
finds here are the Blue Bulls (Neelgai), the handsome Chinkara and the
elegant Black Buck. Carnivores such as the Wolf, Jackals, Foxes, Jungle
and Desert Cats can also be seen |

| The Little Rann abounds in birdlife since it acts as an important staging ground to the migrants. It is a popular breeding area for Flamingos and they flock the marshes in huge numbers. The trumpeting of thousands of graceful Cranes brings life to the desolate Rann. A Large number of waterfowl, waders, raptors and ground birds such as Larks, Sandgrouse and the endangered Hubara Bustard including the 300 different species of birds that one can see here.
